Red Flames
Written by Barbara Nesbitt
Produced and Arranged by Mark Addison
Barbara sang and played acoustic guitar
Mark played bouzouki, acoustic guitar, telecaster, bass, MicroOrgan, virtual strings and percussion.
This song was written during pandemic lock down and I was missing my motherland, Scotland, so much. I tried to go every year in before times. It was raining this day and I opened the windows and started playing my guitar. This love song for a place in the world and in my heart came right out. Later, Mark Addison heard me play it on a livestream and (easily) convinced me to come over to his studio and record. He turned it into something so special, and etherial, and it brings goosebumps to my skin and tears to my eyes with every listen. We hope you like it.

Thinkin about you
Lost on Isle of Skye
Thinkin’ about you
A million miles away
But you’re right here every day
Whiskey, north sea
Thinkin about you
Green tea, oak tree
Thinkin about you
A million miles away
But you’re right here every day
Red flames in your hair
Blues, blue oceans in your eyes
Scottish lane, summer rain
Thinkin’ about you
Dirty jokes on the Belmond train
Thinkin’ about you
A million miles away
But you’re right here every day
Inst.
Past is past, hold fast
Thinkin’ about you
The spell forever cast
Thinkin’ about you
A million miles away
but you’re right here every day
Red flames in your hair
Blue, blue oceans in your eyes
